Community Bread Basket Volunteers In The Food Pantry

About Us

The Community Bread Basket is a cooperative outreach ministry of the churches in the Weirton area and other supportive organizations, businesses and individuals to assure the basic needs of life for people and families in our community.

History

In September of 2003, Tri-State Church of God, Catholic Community Services (CCS) which is now known as Catholic Charities WV, and Weirton Ministerial Association came together to form the Community Bread Basket. As the need in the community increased other churches joined efforts with the Community Bread Basket by providing food, baby, and monetary donations. In January of 2008, Catholic Charities WV (formally CCS) Service became independent of the Community Bread Basket. Then in February 2008 the Community Bread Basket became Community Bread Basket, Inc.

Mission Statement: The purpose of this corporation is to provide resources and services for the basic needs of life to those in need, including, but not limited to clothing, food, and counseling through a cooperative effort of people and organizations in our community. In addition, the corporation is formed to conduct or transact and or all lawful business for which corporations may be incorporated in West Virginia. Beyond this we aim to enable individuals to develop skills needed to become self-dependent/supporting. We are mandated by the Spirit of Christ and committed to providing these services while maintaining the respect and dignity of the individual.
